BJP leads in Assam, CM candidate Sonowal stresses on unity

Guwahati, May 19 (IBNS) BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate in Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal said that in order to function as a whole, they need to 'work, live and fight together', moments after his party showed signs of forming the next government in the state.

Trends showed BJP lead in 73 seats out of the 126.

The incumbent Congress was reduced to 26, while AUDF managed 16.

Others have managed eight seats.

Sonowal said that he is hopeful of support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who he termed as a man with a vision for the north eastern states.
