BJP lawmaker attends conversion ceremony in Bastar

Bastar, Dec 13 (IBNS): A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker from Chhattisgarh’s Bastar attended a religious conversion ceremony organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), media reports said.

A video footage captured on a cell phone showed that the conversion ceremony was held at Madhota village in Bastar with MP Dinesh Kashyap welcoming the 33 families who reconverted to Hinduism from Christianity.

Kashyap was the chief guest at the ceremony.

“I did attend the reconversion ceremony which was organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in October. But it was not like what happened in Agra. In the reconversion ceremony I attended, people voluntarily reconverted. They were lured by the people of Christian community and that day they returned to Hinduism,” said Kashyap, as per reports by NDTV.

Earlier on Monday, another religious conversion of some 200 people was held in Agra in Uttar Pradesh. It was arranged by groups linked to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) which is the ideological mentor of the ruling BJP at the Centre.
