BJP creating chaos in Bengal assembly: Mamata Banerjee

| @indiablooms | Mar 09, 2022, at 11:30 pm

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday slammed the BJP, accusing its legislators of creating chaos and disrupting the State Assembly, amidst a walkout by the saffron party MLAs after two of their lawmakers were suspended for the remaining days of the budget session for allegedly disrupting the Governor's opening address on March 7.

Opposition leader of the House Suvendu Adhikari led the walk out with his MLAs after the party's two lawmakers - Sudip Mukherjee and Mihir Goswami - were suspended for the rest of the session by Speaker Biman Banerjee earlier in the day.

The walkout happened after Adhikari's demand to withdraw the suspension order on the two party legislators was not met.

Later, Adhikari said the two suspended MLAs would come regularly and sit in the lobby of the Assembly complex.

Chief Minister and leader of the House Mamata Banerjee, while replying to Governor Jagdeep Dhankar's inaugural address, said the BJP was trying to create chaos in the house and held the party responsible for the disruption on March 7.

She said the BJP should not henceforth get a seat in the Assembly elections since it hardly listens to the voice of the people.

She also accused the BJP of fomenting riots and spreading slander against the ruling Trinamool Congress. Banerjee, who is also the chairperson of the TMC, lampooned the BJP's campaign slogan of "Ab ki bar, doso paar" (this time, over 200 seats will be mine) that it gave during the last assembly poll. " Ab Ki Bar Pogar Paar" (this time, a wash out), said Banerjee, signifying the party would be doomed on the state.
