BJP complains against BSP chief Mayawati for asking Mulsim not to vote for Congress

| @indiablooms | Apr 07, 2019, at 09:00 pm

Lucknow, Apr 7 (UNI) BJP has filed a complaint with the Election Commission over reported statement of BSP president Mayawati appealing to the Muslims not to vote for Congress during the alliance joint rally at Deoband on Sunday.

BJP's election management in-charge JPS Rathore, in a written complaint to CEC Sunil Arora here on Sunday evening sought action against the BSP president for violating model code of conduct by seeking votes on communal lines.

"The act of Ms Mayawati was a move to create communal flare up which could obstruct free and fair polls in the state," the BJP complaint said.

Mayawati during her speech in Deoband had asked the Muslims not to waste their votes by supporting Congress as only the alliance was fighting against the BJP in the state.

It further said that action should be initiated against Ms Mayawati so that she do not repeat such act in future.
