BJP attacks Rahul Gandhi over his 'jacket'

| | Feb 01, 2018, at 12:11 am

New Delhi, Jan 31 (IBNS): Congress President Rahul Gandhi faced the "suit-boot" jibe from the BJP for wearing a black jacket during a rock concert he attended on Tuesday evening in  Meghalaya.

Gandhi is visiting the state ahead of the Feb 27 polls.

In the event, Gandhi was seen wearing a jeans and a jacket.

BJP picked up Gandhi's own "suit-boot" remark to hit out at the Congress President.

The BJP Meghalaya shared an image of the jacket from British brand Burberry's catalogue with the price - nearly thousand dollars on its Twitter page and an image of Gandhi wearing the jacket to attack the ruling party.

" So @OfficeOfRG , soot(pun intended!)-boot ki sarkar with ‘black’ money fleeced from Meghalayan State exchequer by rampant corruption? Instead of singing away our woes, you could have given a report card of your inefficient govt in Meghalaya! Your indifference mocks us!," the tweet read.

BJP leader Ram Madhav also targeted Gandhi over the jacket and tweeted: " Congress doesn’t understand popular sentiment in North East 2day. 4 states rejected Congress already n Meghalaya ready to do d same now. Congress not even in reckoning in Tripura n Nagaland. Cong left NE poor n underdeveloped while their leaders roam around in 70K jackets ."

Gandhi had used the 'suit-boot' term to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his famous name-striped suit worn during former US president Barack Obama's visit.
