BJP accuses Kejriwal of having soft corner for 'Tukde-gang'
New Delhi/UNI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday stepped up attack against Arvind Kejriwal-led dispensation in Delhi and sought to woo voters by highlighting AAP regime's alleged nexus and soft corner for the 'Tukde-Tukde gang'.
"If you want a safe and secured Delhi, then you must strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Home Minister Amit Shah said in one of his election meetings here.
BJP's newly-elected national president J P Nadda in his address at an election meeting at Pandav Nagar in the Lakshmi Nagar constituency alleged that Kejriwal's statement and actions do not match up well.
"For the last five years, you kept saying that Narendra Modi has not let you work, and now you are claiming 'Achche beete paanch saal' (Five years saw good governance in the city). These do not add up well. The falsehood is easy to catch. AAP leaders say something and do something else," Nadda told an enthusiastic gathering.
In his address at an election rally, Home Minister Amit Shah told supporters and party workers at Karawal Nagar that when Kejriwal comes seeking votes, the people should question him why the city government did not act against Tukde-Tukde gang.
"Protesters raised anti-India slogans at JNU, the Modi government acted against them and put them behind bars. But to proceed further in the case to punish them, the Delhi government has not given permission. If now Kejriwal comes for votes, then you must ask, why such permission was not given," Shah said.
He said abrogation of Art 370 has gone down well with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
"The tribal population earlier did not have a reservation, now with the removal of the Article, tribal rights have been restored. Now tribal members from J&K can come to Lok Sabha," he said.
Shah also raised the Ram temple issue and said the Congress has always prolonged the matter as leaders like Kapil Sibal would always try in the past to delay the legal process.
Nadda accused the AAP leadership of not fulfilling its promises on adding more schools, hospitals and appointing Lokpal in the capital.
At the same breadth, the BJP chief cited infrastructure works undertaken by the BJP government at the Centre such as Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways.
