BJP, AAP, SAD members join Congress

Chandigarh, Apr 14 (UNI): More than half a dozen youth belonging to the BJP, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Shiromani Akali Dal on Sunday left their parties and joined Congress, in the presence of Congress Lok Sabha candidate and former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and state party chief Pardeep Chhabra at the Congress Bhavan, Sector 35, here.

Those who joined the Congress, included AAP's youth wing president Brij Pal from ward No 23, Manoj of BJP from the same ward, Tony from ward No 25, Manjit from ward No 16, Ashish from ward No 8, SAD youth president Ankur and party vice-president Kuldeep.

Addressing the youth on the occasion, Mr Bansal said on coming to power, the Congress government will provide the youth, the much-needed employment. The Nyuntam Aay Yojna (NYAY), the minimum income guarantee scheme promised by the party, will also uplift the lot of the poor, he added.

According to Mr Chhabra, this Lok Sabha election is for the future of youth, who are the backbone of the country. Congress has always given priority to the youth in all spheres of activity, he added.
