Bihar: Tough cop Gupteshwar Pandey appointed as new DGP

Patna, Feb 2 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): A senior IPS official Gupteshwar Pandey was on Thursday appointed the new Director General of Police, Bihar.

Pandey, a 1987 batch IPS officer, succeeds KS Dwivedi.

Considered a tough cop, Pandey had been launching intensive campaigns against liquor across the state for the past over a year.

While taking charge of the state, he again warned of serious actions against all those found involved in liquor smuggle.

He said his focus would be on restoring law and order situation in the state.

Of late, the state has witnessed a sudden spurt in criminal incidents which has caused fear psychosis among the masses.
