Bihar govt shuts all educational institutions, cinema halls and public places till March 31

Patna/UNI: Keeping in view the rapid spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Bihar government on Friday announced to shut down all educational institutions, coaching institutes, cinema halls, zoo- parks and public places across the state till March 31 and deferred Bihar festival celebrations slated from March 22.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reviewed the preparedness of the state government for combating COVID-19 in a high-level meeting here during the day and instructed to shut down all government and private schools, colleges, coaching institutes, cinema halls, parks, zoo, museum and other public places with immediate effect.

Instructions have also been issued to suspend all public programmes to check the possibility of spread of the coronavirus.

After the meeting, the Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar told newspersons here that the decision to shut down all institutions were taken as precautionary measures.

He said that all educational institutions would remain close till March 31, however, the examinations of the CBSE would continue.

Deepak Kumar has been issued to keep all public places closed till March 31 and the District Magistrates have been asked to take all precautionary measures in this connection.

He said that all programmes to be held in Gyan Bhavan, S.K.Memorial hall, Bapu Sabhagar have been cancelled along with the Bihar Divas function till March 31 and the bookings have also been stopped in this halls.

He said that new dates for Bihar Divas celebrations would be announced later on after reviewing the situation.

All sports and cultural programmes have also been cancelled, he informed.
