Patna, Apr 30 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): A Muslim girl committed suicide by jumping before a running train in Bihar after her marriage was fixed with a partly literate boy, family members said on Sunday.

The incident took place in Naugachhia locality of Bhagalpur district on Saturday evening.

As per reports, the victim identified as Akhtari Khatoon, was living in depression after the parents fixed her marriage with a partly educated boy recently.

Akhtari who was studying in class 12 in a local women’s college wanted a qualified life partner for her but her family member ignored her wishes.

On Saturday evening, the victim suddenly came on a railway track, took out the SIM cards from her cell phone and jumped in front of a running express train, witnesses said. She died on the spot.

“She was quite disappointed after coming to know about the proposed marriage with a partly literate boy. She wanted educated boy as her life partner,” victim’s uncle Mohammad Jabbar Ali was quoted as saying in local media on Sunday.
