Bihar: Fourth phase polling underway across 7 districts
Patna, Nov 1 (IBNS): The fourth phase of polling in Bihar is underway in 55 constituencies spread across seven districts on Sunday.
Nearly 4.77 percent voter turnout was recorded in the first hour.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has higher stakes in this round as polling is being held in Muzaffarpur, East Champaran, West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Gopalganj and Siwan, where the party, in alliance with Nitish Kumar's JDU, bagged majority seats in the 2010 elections.
As many as 1,46,93,294 voters will decide the fate of 776 candidates in this round.
Voting is already over for 131 seats in the earlier three rounds.
The third phase of the Assembly polls in Bihar also witnessed a good voter turnout of 53 percent.
The Bihar elections are crucial for the BJP which needs numbers in the Rajya Sabha, where it is in a minority and unable to push key reforms.
