Bihar becomes fifth BJP-ruled Indian state to ban ‘Padmavati’

Patna, Nov 28 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): Bihar on Tuesday became the fifth Indian state to ban the controversial movie ‘Padmavati’ from release.

An order to this effect was issued by chief minister Nitish Kumar who runs his government with the support of the BJP.

“The ban will be in place till the controversy surrounding it gets over,” Kumar told the media in Patna on Tuesday.

He also reportedly disapproved of a film scene wherein Padmavati played by Deepika Padukone is seen dancing.

Kumar issued the order stopping screening of the movie directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali after a BJP legislator sought for a ban on it.

The other four states which banned the movie include Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, all ruled by the BJP.
