Patna, Nov 1(IBNS) The fourth phase of the Bihar Assembly polls witnessed a turnout of 57.59 per cent as the voters exercised their franchise to elect a new assembly.

Manoj Kumar Singh, a BJP candidate's brother was arrested by the police on suspect of illegal cash distribution.

Singh is contesting the Raghunathpur seat of Siwan district. 17 others were also arrested due to irregularities, reports said.

The stakes are high for the incumbent BJP led central government who managed a decent number in the last assembly poll here, winning 26 of the 55 sets, followed by JD(U)'s 24.

48 percent voters have turned around till 2 p.m., according to reports.

Around 1,47,00,000 voters are expected to cast their votes in these 55 constituencies.

Elections are already over in 131 constituencies, covered in the last three phases. The fifth and the final phase will conclude the Biharelections where voting will be on for the remaining 57 seats.

Meanwhile, a clash between voters and the police was reported in Sheohar.
