Bengal: BJP won't field candidate against TMC's Sushmita Dev for Rajya Sabha bypoll

Kolkata/IBNS: The West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday said it will not field any candidate against Trinamool Congress (TMC) nominee Sushmita Dev for the upcoming bypoll to a Rajya Sabha seat from the state.

BJP Leader of Opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari tweeted, "BJP will not nominate any candidate for Rajyasabha bypoll due in West Bengal. Outcome is predetermined. Our focus is to make sure unelected CM to be unelected once again. Jai Ma Kali."

Dev, a former MP from Assam’s Silchar, joined the TMC last month after quitting the Congress.

Dev was seen actively working towards building the TMC’s organisation in Tripura where the party is aiming to keep its footprint.
