Balcony of old building collapses in north Kolkata, eight hurt

Kolkata, Jan 30 (IBNS): At least eight persons were injured when the balcony of an old dilapidated building collapsed near Cossipore Gun and Shell Factory in northern Kolkata on Wednesday evening, reports said.

The balcony collapsed at around 8:30 pm. when the eight persons were standing on it.

"The balcony of a multi-storey old dilapidated building, located at 4, K.C. Road under Chitpur Police Station limits in northern part of the city, suddenly collapsed this evening leaving eight women injured," a local police official told IBNS.

Local police, fire and emergency services officials and Disaster Management Group (DMG) personnel responded to the incident and injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital.

"All injured persons have been admitted to a local hospital and one of them is critical," the police official added.
