Bad weather forces Delhi bound flight to land in Mumbai, 300 passengers stranded overnight
Mumbai, May 30 (IBNS) A Delhi-bound flight from Newark was forced to change direction and land in Mumbai on Sunday night, owing to the national capital's bad weather, thus stranding the 300 odd passengers overnight, reports said.
The United Airlines flight, UA 82, was diverted minutes before it was supposed to land in New Delhi.
As the angry passengers protested, the airline handed the boarders two options, either to take a domestic flight and reach Delhi or to submit their respective passport and stay in the hotel the airline had decided for them.
A chaos ensured as some decided to stay while others opted for a domestic flight.
Accommodation was handed over as late as 5 a.m., while some passengers complained about the misplacement of their bags.
Reports also said that an odd 20 flights were diverted from the national capital, owing to the bad weather.
