New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI): The Election Commission on Tuesday imposed a fresh ban on Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan from campaigning for 48 hours over his communal statement and provocative remarks against poll authorities during a campaign in Rampur.

"The SP leader has been barred from campaigning for 48 hours, starting from 0600 hrs May 1, over his communal statements and provocative remarks against poll authorities in Uttar Pradesh," the poll body said.

While strongly condemning his objectionable speeches at Rampur, the EC also warned him not to repeat such "misconduct".

This is the second time in this month that the Election Commission has imposed a ban on him. Earlier he was barred from campaigning for 72 hours for his "khaki underwear" jibe at BJP candidate Jaya Prada.
