At least 18 Maoists killed in police encounter near Andhra-Odisha border

Malkangiri, Odisha, Oct 24 (IBNS): At least 18 Maoists were killed in a joint operation by the Odisha and Andhra Pradesh police, reports said.

The encounter took place in Odisha's Malkangiri district on Monday, the Hindu reported.

The daily quoted Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma as saying that it was a joint operation by the Greyhounds of AP and the Odisha Police.

The 'Greyhounds' is a special anti-naxal unit from Andhra.

Two constables were injured during the course of the operation.

The forces also seized four AK47 rifles, three self loading rifles along with other ammunition from the fringe outfit.
