At least 17 killed in firecracker factory fire in Andhra Pradesh

Kakinada, Oct 21 (IBNS): At least 14 women and three men died in the fire that broke out at a firecracker factory in Andhra Pradesh on Monday, reports said.

Six people died of severe burn injuries in hospital on Tuesday morning.

According to police, two more women are missing since the fire.

There were as many as 30 people at work when the fire broke out at the firecracker factor in Kakinada, about 160-km far from the port city of Visakhapatnam.

The government has already ordered a probe into whether fire safety measured had been ignored by the management.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also announced compensation of Rs. 2 lakh for the families of those who died, sources said.
