Assam: Voting for Tiwa Autonomous Council election begins

Guwahati/IBNS: Voting began for the first phase of the Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) election in Assam.

Tight security arrangements have been made and the district administration has taken adequate health measures in 410 polling booths for the first phase election.

Polling for 36 constituencies under the Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) in parts of Kamrup (Metro), Morigaon, Nagaon and Hojai district began at 7:30 am on Thursday and will proceed to 4:30 pm.

A total of 3,08,409 voters will decide the fates of 124 candidates in ballot papers in the TAC election.

Voters queued up early morning to cast their votes even before polling began at 7:30 am.

The counting of votes will be held on December 19.
