Assam traffic cop wins hearts on social media for his dedication to duty

Guwahati, Apr 1 (IBNS): A traffic constable of Assam police won the hearts of many people on social media for his exemplary dedication to duty amid a thunder shower that lashed the Assam’s capital city last evening.

Mithun Das, a traffic cop of Assam stood amid heavy rain without raincoat and manning the busy traffic at Basistha area in the capital city.

A video and few photographs of the Assam cop went viral on social media and many have saluted Mithun for exemplary dedication to duty.

Assam Police, on their official twitter handle, tweeted a video and saluted the traffic cop for his devotion towards duty.

“Dedication is thy name! We salute AB Constable Mithun Das (Basistha PS) of @GuwahatiPol , for his exceptional devotion towards duty and showing us how dedication can turn a storm into a sprinkle. Kudos!,” Assam Police tweeted.

Mithun Das said his duty hours were from 7 am to 12 pm and the rain started 5 minutes before noon.

“When my replacement hadn’t come, I continued my job in the rain,” Mithun Das said.

Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia tweeted, “The visuals of the traffic Constable Mithun Das (Basistha PS) are truly inspirational. I personally talked to him and conveyed my appreciations. I also hail all the @assampolice Personnel like him, who stand against such adversities  everyday, without being recorded.”

Mithun Das hails from Manja area in Karbi Anglong district and had joined the Assam police in 2015 and since 2017 he has been posted at Basistha police station in the capital city of Assam.
