Assam to appoint over 11,000 elementary teachers

Guwahati, Aug 29 (IBNS) : Assam government on Monday said it will appoint over 11,000 elementary teachers soon.

Assam Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said the state government has decided to appoint a total of 11,278 teachers in Upper Primary and Lower Primary schools in the state in next three months.

“Only Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) passed and B.Ed, DlEd passed candidates will apply for the regular posts,” the education minister said.


Among the post, the state government will appoint 6,134 teachers in Lower Primary and 5,144 teachers in Upper Primary schools.

The minister also said that, there are over 35,000 TET passed candidates in the state.

The state government had appointed over 7,000 elementary teachers last month.
