Assam: Three children die in landslide in West Karbi Anglong

Guwahati, Apr 30 (IBNS): Three children died in a massive landslide in Assam’s West Karbi Anglong district on Sunday.

According to the reports, the incident took place at Makhim village under Jirikinding police station in the hill's district on Saturday evening, where the local villagers on Sunday had recovered the bodies of the children, who trapped under mud following landslides.

The deceased children are in the age group of 10-12 years.

They have been identified as Rengpo Rongpi, Ropen Rongpi and Chetlong Hanse.

They went missing since Saturday evening.

Local villagers said the children went missing while they were working in hills for preparing jhum cultivation land.

A top police official said that massive landslides happened at the hills area following torrential rains continuing in past couple of days.
