Assam : Six people of a family killed in road mishap

Guwahati, Oct 17 (IBNS) : At least six people of a family, including two child and two women, were killed in a road mishap in Assam’s Nagaon district on Saturday, officials said.

The incident took place at NH-37 near Burhapahar under Jakhalabandha police station in the middle Assam district at around 1-10 pm where the persons were killed during a head on collision between a Micra car and a passenger bus.

All those killed were traveling in the car.

The family of Takaubari area in Guwahati was going to Kaziranga National Park (KNP) on Saturday morning to spend the weekend.

“The driver of the car had lost his control over the speeding vehicle and hit the other vehicle,” a police official said.

The deceased persons were identified as Bikash Jain, Karishma Jain, Biva Jain, Gulu Jain, Abhisekh Jain and Anita Jain.

More than 65,000 people were killed in India in 2014 for speeding driving.

In Assam, an average seven people were killed per day in road accidents in National Highways of the state.
