Assam: Six DNLA militants killed in encounter with security forces in Karbi Anglong

Guwahati/IBNS: Six Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Assam’s Karbi Anlong district on Sunday morning.

The gunfight took place at the Misibailam area near Dhansiri in Karbi Anglong district.

Based on intelligence input, the troops of Karbi Anglong district police, Dima Hasao district police and Assam Rifles jointly launched the operation at the remote area in the wee hours of Sunday.

Security forces also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the area.

“Six militants were killed after an exchange of heavy rounds of bullets. Security forces have recovered a large number of arms and ammunition from the spot,” a police official of Karbi Anglong district said.

Assam Special DGP (Law & Order) GP Singh tweeted – “In an early morning operation by @assampolice and Assam Rifles, six DNLA terrorists were neutralised in Dhansiri area of Karbi Anglong district. Large cache of arms & ammunition also recovered.”
