Assam Rifles jawan killed in militant attack

Guwahati, Apr 25 (IBNS) : An Assam Rifles jawan was killed in a militant attack in Nagaland on Saturday, officials said.

The incident took place at Red Cross area in Kohima, capital city of Nagaland at around 1 pm on Saturday.

Suspected militants attacked on an Assam Rifles troops at the area when the troops in patrolling duty.

"The militants attacked at the patrolling troops in which a jawan sustained four bullet injuries, " an official of Assam Rifles said.

The injured jawan AK Raout succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.

Top officials of Assam Rifles and Nagaland police have rushed to the area and launched operation against the militants.

The faction groups of NSCN are active in the state and bordering areas of Assam and Myanmar.
