Assam Rifles apprehend NSCN (K) militant

Guwahati, Apr 10 (IBNS): Security forces on Tuesday apprehended a hardcore NSCN (K) militant from Nagaland.

Based on intelligence input, the troops of Kohima Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted an operation based on specific information in general area of Phulbari Chowk, Kohima District along with a police representative and apprehended one NSCN (K) militant who was identified as Self Style Adjutant Job.

Security personnel recovered two NSCN/GPRN/K extortion slips for Rs 80,000 and Rs 20,070 cash.

Subsequently a follow up operation was launched to carry out search of the residence of Self Styled Adjutant Job in High School Junction wherein one receipt from Traders Union for Rs 35,000, one NSCN/GPRN/K extortion slip of Rs 7,000, one NSCN/GPRN/K blank extortion slip and one used NSCN/GPRN/K extortion slip pad were also recovered.

The apprehended militant alongwith recovered items was handed over to North Police Station, Kohima for further investigation.

On the other hand, Wokha Battalion of  Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) launched  a search operation  alongwith a police representative in  Upper Mt Tiyi Colony,  Wokha and recovered illegal arms and ammunitions. 

The seized materials included four 12 bore Rifles, two Muzzle loaded Rifles, two Air guns, seven Rifles butt, three metal cup for modification of illegal weapon/bomb, four Air gun spring, nine hollow iron rod, six live rounds of 9 mm pistol, eight rounds of point 22 mm, eight point 22 empty cases and one hand made bomb. 

The illegal material was recovered from the house of  L D Yanthan Lano, a resident of Upper Mt Tiyi Colony in Wokha who was absconding from the house.

The seized illegal arms and ammunitions were handed over to Wokha police station  and an FIR  was  also lodged for further investigations.
