Assam CM vigilance arrests senior IAS officer in labour department scam

Guwahati, Nov 14 (IBNS): Assam Chief Minister's Vigilance Cell on Tuesday arrested a senior IAS officer of the state government in connection with Rs 121 crore scam in the state labour department.According to the reports, police arrested IAS officer Chohan Doley, who served as Labour Commissioner twice from 2013 to 2017.

 

 

According to the reports, police arrested IAS officer Chohan Doley, who served as Labour Commissioner twice from 2013 to 2017.

A top police official said that, police arrested Doley for misappropriation of funds estimated of Rs 121 crore and it took place from 2013 to 2017.

A case (no 9/2017) was registered by the CM Vigilance and the case is related to awarding contracts to private firm for printing leaflets, folders and other materials of the labour department.

Doley, who is at present the Panchayat and Rural Development secretary, was arrested from a private nursing home in Guwahati.

Earlier, the CM vigilance had arrested a contractor and owner of the private firm Priangsu Bairagi in connection with the scam.
