Assam CM launches Mukhyamantri Sishu Sewa Achoni for children orphaned by Covid-19

Guwahati/IBNS: Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday announced Mukhyamantri Sishu Sewa Achoni for providing relief to children who have lost their parents in COVID19 pandemic.

Under the scheme, children who lost both their parents but have guardians in their extended families will get Rs 3,500 per month.

Such children below 10 years without any family support left will be given shelter in child care institutions and provided proper upkeep and education facilities.

Orphan adolescent girls will be accommodated in reputed institutions such as Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya to ensure their sensitive care and proper protection.

In case of any girl of marriageable age having lost her parents, Govt of Assam will provide one tola of gold under Arundhati scheme and one time assistance of Rs 50,000 for her marriage.

All such orphaned school/college going children and those undergoing vocational trainings will be provided laptops/tablets.
