Assam CM directs DCs to put in place all system before onset of monsoon

Guwahati, May 20 (IBNS): Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday directed Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of all districts to put in place all exigencies before the onset of monsoon.

Interacting over a video conference with the DCs in the conference room of his office in Janata Bhawan, Sonowal also directed the DC to be on their toes to undertake relief and rehabilitation works including reaching out to the flood affected people on a real time basis when there is flood.       

He also directed the DCs to put in place all mechanisms for releasing ex-gratia payment to the flood victims within 48 hours and on special circumstances in 24 hours.

He also directed the DCs to furnish flood bulletins to the disaster management cell by 2 PM on 24X7 basis.

Sonowal asked DC and SP of Golaghat to earmark and complete highlands for the wild animals to take shelter there.

He also requested district administration Golaghat to take the fringe area people of Kaziranga National Park into confidence and take their help in completing highlands for the animals.       

In the video conference he also directed the DCs of Golaghat, Sivasagar, Jorhat to repair the National Highway from Numaligarh to Sivasagar on a war footing within one week.          

The Assam CM also took stock of the status of the constriction work of border fencing in Karimganj district and asked DC Karimganj to maintain regular liaison with the BSF personnel deployed along the border.

He also asked DC Karimganj to submit action taken report within one week to the Chief Minister.

Sonowal took an account of SDRF and NDRF fund from the DCs.          

Legal Adviser to the Chief Minister Santanu Bharali, Additional Chief Secretary T.Y. Das, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Lohiya, Special DG Kula Saikia, ADGP (SB) Pallav Bhattacharya and a host of senior officers were present at the conference.
