Asaduddin Owaisi hits back at Mamata after Trinamool chief accuses AIMIM of playing 'divisive extremism'

Kolkata/New Delhi/IBNS: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has hit back at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who on Monday accused the Hyderabad MP of playing "divisive extremism".

Mamata, who heads the Trinamool Congress, on Monday in Coochbehar referred to Owaisi without naming him and accused the AIMIM of dividing community. She also warned the Muslim community of such "extremism".

Countering the Trinamool chief, Owaisi tweeted, "It’s not religious extremism to say that Bengal’s Muslims have one of the worst human development indicators of any minority. If Didi is worried about a bunch of us “from Hyderabad” then she should tell us how BJP won 18/42 LS seats from Bengal."

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the Trinamool, which has been reigning since 2009, suffered a massive setback while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made a huge inroad by winning 18 of 42 seats.

The Trinamool, which had aimed at winning all 42 seats, ended up clinching only 22.
