Armyman beaten to death for trying to stop goons from harassing girl in Meerut

Meerut, Aug 16 (IBNS): An army personnel has beaten to death in Meerut by few men for trying to save a girl from being harassed, reports said on Sunday.
Three of the accused have been arrested by the police.

The victim, identified Vedmitra Chaudhury, 35, a Lance Naik in 416 Engineering Brigade, had gone to buy milk from a booth on Rohta Road in Hardevnagar on Thursday where he saw some men teasing the daughter of the shop owner.

He then came to the rescue of the girl and even beat up one of the accused named Akash, reports said.

Akash then called his friends and assaulted the armyman, leaving him seriously injured.

The jawan was admitted to an Army Hospital in the area, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night.
