Army jawan killed in Kashmir encounter with militants

Srinagar, May 11 (IBNS) An army jawan has reportedly been killed in an encounter with suspected militants that broke out in a forest area of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday evening.
The encounter is still going on.

According to an official, Army’s 21 RR cordoned off the Watser village in the frontier district following specific information about the presence of some militants.

The forces intensified  the cordon-and-search operation and fired several warning shots towards the suspected spot, the officer said, adding that the militants, believed to be two to three in number hiding inside the area opened fire, leading to  an encounter.

Reportedly, one Army Jawan has been killed in the ongoing encounter.

 Om Veer Singh of 21 RR, fell from a ridge in Rajwar forests after a brief exchange of gunfire with militants.
