Army jawan decamps with arms in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jul 6 (IBNS): A Territorial Army man fled with an AK 47 rifle and ammunition from his unit during night-time in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, police said on Thursday.

According to reports, soldier Zahoor Ahmad of Territorial Army 173, fled his unit in Gantmulla area of the district during the night along with an AK 47 rifle and ammunition.

Army and police have launched massive hunt across Kashmir to nab him.

Reports suggested that he is a resident of Pulwama South Kashmir

In past couple of years in the valley, several policemen have deserted their posts and joined militant ranks.
