Army jawan allegedly shot dead by his colleague in Assam’s Tinsukia

Guwahati: An army jawan was allegedly shot dead allegedly by his colleague following a heated argument in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Saturday.

The incident took place at Laipuli army camp in Tinsukia district in the wee hours of Saturday.

The deceased army jawan was identified as Sanjay Chand.

A top police official of Tinsukia district said following a heated argument Sanjay Chand was allegedly shot to death by another jawan identified as Rajendra Prasad inside the army camp.

Police had arrested Rajendra Prasad and recovered one INSAS rifle and 20 rounds of empty cartridge in possession from him.

“We brought Rajendra Prasad to Panitola police station for further interrogation. We have sent the body to Tinsukia civil hospital for post-mortem,” the police official said.

The top police officer also said that, Sanjay Chand and Rajendra Prasad are both hailing from Uttarakhand.
