Andhra Pradesh witnesses bandh called by Left parties

| @indiablooms | Feb 08, 2018, at 05:11 pm

Hyderabad, Feb 8 (IBNS): The Left parties have called a state-wide bandh in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday as a mark of protest against the "injustice" meted out to the state by the Union budget 2018, media reports said.

The bandh has been called by all three left parties-CPI, CPI-M and CPI-ML.

The Left parties have termed the budget, which was announced by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on last Thursday, as "anti-people"

They have alleged that higher sums of money were allocated in the poll bound states.

The bandh has been supported by other political parties as well.

Schools and colleges have remained shut due to the bandh.

Apart from the Left, the ruling Telegu Desam Party (TDP), which is also an ally of BJP in the central government, had expressed unhappiness over the allocations for the state.

Following the budget, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu had called an emergency meeting to take a tough stance against the BJP-ruled central government.

However, after a call from BJP President Amit Shah, the TDP has said they are not immediately breaking ties with the NDA government.
