New Delhi/IBNS: India's Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday unveiled a statue of former Union Finance Minister late Arun Jaitley at the Feroz Shah Kotla here.

Shah unveiled the statue which is around six-feet tall.

The unveiling programme was attended by Indian cricket board president and secretary, Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah respectively, cricketer-turned parliamentarian Gautam Gambhir and former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag.

The statue has been unveiled on the occasion of the 68th birth anniversary of Jaitley, who was an advocate by profession.

Jaitley had remained as the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president.

Paying tribute to his former colleague in the country's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shah said, "Arun Jaitley had respected the position he held as the Finance Minister."

"There are two developments which took the Indian cricket to its current position. First was the selling of the rights by BCCI and second was IPL. Arun Jaitley played a role in making successful as an advocate," the Home Minister said.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi, who had objected to the installation of late Jaitley's statue, shot a letter to the DDCA threatening to take legal action if his name is not removed from one of the stands of Kotla.
