All MLAS of Opposition DMK evicted from Tamil Nadu Assembly, suspended for a week

Chennai, Aug 17 (IBNS) : All 89 legislators of the DMK, including Leader of the Opposition M K Stalin were on Wednesday suspended for a week after being evicted from the Tamil Nadu Assembly following a ruckus in the House over a mocking remark made by an MLA of the ruling AIADMK, reports said.

Following their eviction, Finance Minister and Leader of the House O. Panneerselvam moved a resolution alleging that the opposition MLAs were disrupting the proceedings and sought their suspension.

Accepting this, Speaker P. Dhanapal ordered the suspension of the DMK MLAs for a week.

The DMK MLAs objected to  AIADMK MLA Gunasekaran's remark about Stalin’s “Namakku Naame” campaign and wanted it to be expunged from the records.

Stalin told journalists outside the House that the eviction and suspension of the DMK MLAs was a planned action.
