Akhilesh Yadav ridicules Shah's claim that J&K govt was consulted on Art 370

New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) Samajwadi Party on Tuesday strongly opposed the government's Kashmir policy vis-a-vis Article 370 and said the Centre's claim that the state was consulted was not true.

Participating in the debate on the Statutory Resolution on Article 370 and relevant Bills pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said there was little meaning in Home Minister Amit Shah's claim that Jammu and Kashmir was consulted as the Governor himself few days back said that he was not aware of the development.

''After Governor Satyapal Malik had made the remarks, everybody knows what happened within 24 hours,'' Mr Yadav said.

Trying to drive home the point that everybody in the BJP is trying to glorify the government decision, he shared a parable of a king's court where everyone starts appreciating a brinjal curry solely aiming to flatter the king.

He said in the story one of the ministers finally admits and tells the king ''My Lord, I am appreciating the brinjal, I am not doing this to please the brinjal. I am here to please my king.''

Among others, Sukhbir Singh Badal (SAD), Anupriya Patel (Apna Dal), Asaduddin Owaisi (AIMIM) and Rajiv Ranjan Singh(JD-U) also spoke.

The JD-U which is an NDA ally, staged a walkout, saying they were not in favour of Article 370 since 1990s.

Mr Owaisi demanded that the telecom services which has been stalled in Jammu and Kashmir for last three days, be immediately restored.
