Mumbai, Nov 8 (IBNS): Several Air India flights from Mumbai got delayed on Thursday morning due to a strike called by a group of the airline company's contractual workers, media reports said.

The contractual ground workers of Air India Air Transport Services Limited (AIATSL) are on a strike since Wednesday night over the demands of reinstatement of sacked workers.

The airline told media they had called staff from home to help the check-in process, which was on hold.

An Air India spokesperson told The Indian Express, "Due to a sudden industrial situation at Mumbai by Air India Transport Service Limited employees, some flights have got delayed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA).

"We are assessing the situation and all efforts are being made to minimise delays or disruption."
