AIMIM to contest 100 seats in UP assembly polls: Asaduddin Owaisi
Lucknow/UNI: Claiming that Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) were equally responsible for Muslims plight in Uttar Pradesh, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday announced that his party will contest around 100 seats in the coming 2022 assembly polls in the state.
Owaisi, who is slated to launch his party's poll campaign from Ayodhya this evening, said that they are in touch with smaller parties like Om Prakash Rajbhar and others for a pre poll alliance.
Talking to media persons here before leaving for Ayodhya, the Hyderabad MP said things about alliance would be clear very soon.
However during his entire interaction AIMIM chief was more vocal against SP though he blamed SP, BSP and Congress for using Muslim as vote bank.
"SP wants to use Muslims as a vote bank. Akhilesh Yadav as CM deliberately didn't pursue the cases in Muzaffarnagar riots," he alleged.
Besides, he said Muslims had supported SP but they never got proper representation in the SP government.
When asked about criminalization of politics, Owaisi said BJP has the most number of criminals.
"BJP's 37 percent MLAs have criminal cases against them. Many BJP MPs have cases of serious crimes against them," he said while adding that even Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath withdrew the case of Gorakhpur riot against him.
He added that it is unfortunate that any politician whose name is Ateek and Mukhtar will be Bahubali or mafia and anyone who has a Hindu name is a big leader.
Meanwhile, Shaista Praveen, wife of mafia don Atiq Ahmed, joined the AIMIM here in presence of Owaisi.
