Afternoon shootout injures one in Kolkata

Kolkata, Jun 16 (IBNS): One man was shot, when miscreants fired bullets indiscriminately over a local building's promoting conflict in broad daylight on Thursday at Govinda Khatick Road area under Entally Police Station limits in north Kolkata, officials said.

According to reports, during the tussle of two miscreant-groups, at least 10 bullets were fired and several crude bombs were thrown at around 12:30 pm.

Sustaining a bullet injury, one local- Sheikh Aslam- has been admitted to a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, local people demonstrated against the incident, when police reached the spot. They set a motorcycle, which was used by miscreants, on fire.

Later a heavy police force from nearby police stations, Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel and Anti Rowdy Squad officials rushed to the spot.

Police have started investigation into the case and no arrest has been made so far.

However, the situation at the area is under control.
