New Delhi, May 24 (IBNS): Acknowledging Prime Minister Narendra Modi's acceptance of Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli's fitness challenge, Congress president Rahul Gandhi has offered fuel challenge to Modi, in the wake of the hike in petrol and diesel prices.

Rahul has also warned Modi saying the Congress will launch a nationwide agitation to force the central government to reduce the fuel prices.

In a tweet, Rahul said: "Dear PM, Glad to see you accept the @imVkohli fitness challenge. Here’s one from me: Reduce Fuel prices or the Congress will do a nationwide agitation and force you to do so. I look forward to your response. #FuelChallenge"

The fuel prices in the country has already crossed Rs. 80 per litre, creating discomfort for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The fuel prices had risen for last eleven days.

The government is likely to call a meeting to find a solution to the price hike.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president and Rajya Sabha MP, Amit Shah, on Tuesday ensured that the government will come up with a solution within two to three days.

Modi had earlier accepted Kohli's fitness challenge by tweeting the Indian skipper.

Modi tweeted, "Challenge accepted, Virat! I will be sharing my own #FitnessChallenge video soon. @imVkohli #HumFitTohIndiaFit"

Modi's reaction came after Kohli had challenged the Prime Minister for the fitness training.

The Fit India Movement was launched by Modi in March and also spoke about it in Mann Ki Baat radio talk show in April.
