Adani Wilmar temporarily pauses oil ads featuring Sourav Ganguly

Mumbai/IBNS: Adani Wilmar has temporarily paused its oil advertisements featuring Indian cricket board president Sourav Ganguly, who suffered a mild cardiac arrest last week, after facing online trolls.

Ganguly, who heads the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), endorses Fortune Rice Bran Cooking Oil.

"We have only taken a temporary break in our TV commercial till we again sit with Sourav and take things forward. This is a very unfortunate incident and can happen with anyone,” Adani Wilmar Deputy CEO Angshu Mallick told The Indian Express.

"Ricebran oil is one of the world’s most healthy oils. It contains natural antioxidants and gama oryzonal present in it reduces bad cholesterol and improves lipid profile," Mallick said and added, "There are several factors which affect heart ailments including dietary and hereditary issues."

Ganguly was admitted to a south Kolkata hospital on Saturday after he had fainted while exercising on a treadmill in the gym. Later it was found, he had suffered a mild cardiac arrest.

The former Indian cricket captain underwent Angioplasty on the same day and doctors stated he had three blockages in the heart.

He had received a stent in one of the blocked arteries.

Though the former Indian cricket captain, who has been declared  "clinically fit" now by the hospital, was scheduled to be discharged on Wednesday, Ganguly decided to spend a day more in the medical facility.
