Actress Shabana Azmi hurt in road mishap on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi was injured in a car accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Saturday.

The actress has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

The accident reportedly occurred after her car rammed into a truck.

 

MGM Hospital officials told India Today, "Shabana Azmi has got minor injuries on her nose. No other visible injuries till now. She is right now in state of shock. Treatment going on. Condition stable." 

Police officials told the news channel, "Shabana Azmi and her driver were injured in an accident near Khalapur on Pune-Mumbai Expressway. While they were driving from Pune to Mumbai their vehicle was hit by a truck on expressway. Javed Akhtar was also present in the car who is safe. Both the injured have been shifted to MGM Hospital." 

Azmi’s husband and lyricist Javed Akhtar, who was travelling behind her in a separate car, an Audi, was safe and his car was not involved in the crash, police told Hindustan Times.

“The Safari was being driven by Azmi’s driver followed by the Audi. The driver tried to overtake and ended up crashing into the moving truck from the rear,” Vishwajeet Kainjade, inspector at Khalapur police station told the newspaper.
