Absconder Somnath Bharti may be in disguise: Police
New Delhi, Sept 25 (IBNS): Somnath Bharti, the disgraced AAP party leader who is wanted in connection with an attempt to murder his wife, has possibly disguised himself, the Delhi Police said on Friday.
"He may have changed his appearance. He may be in disguise. We are considering all angles now," senior Delhi Police officer Deepender Pathak told reporters.
According to police, the AAP lawmaker is behaving like a "professional criminal" and has been changing locations and phones.
The former minister has been missing since Tuesday, when the High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea, saying that he was "violent and outrageous" at home and in public.
Police, on the lookout for Bharti, are questioning his family members and friends.
Lipika Mitra, whom Bharti married in 2010, has accused him of beating and torturing her. She has alleged that he once tried to strangle her and unleashed his dog on her when she was pregnant.
Embarrassed by the happenings that threatens to sully the party's image, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday tweeted: "Somnath shud surrender. Why is he running away? Why is he so scared of gng to jail? Now he is becoming embarrassment for party n his family."
