Abducted new-born baby recovered in Srinagar, accused arrested

Srinagar/UNI: A person, who had kidnapped a new-born baby from a government hospital, was arrested and the infant recovered safely in the summer capital, Srinagar, a police officer said here on Monday.

He said police received an information that on Saturday night, a day-old baby was kidnapped from Lal Ded Hospital Srinagar by an unknown person. ''A case was registered and investigation taken up.''

Following various leads and examining CCTV footage, police was finally able to track the accused and recover the baby. ''After completion of necessary formalities, the new-born was handed over to his family,'' he said.

''A case FIR No 17/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Rajbagh,'' he added.
