New Delhi/UNI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday nominated Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal and renominated sitting MPs ND Gupta and Sanjay Singh as its candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

Singh is currently in jail in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam.

The party's Political Affairs Committee, led by its national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, during the day approved the decisions, an AAP statement said.

Sushil Kumar Gupta, whose tenure as RS member is ending this month, has expressed his desire to engage in electoral politics in Haryana actively and AAP respects his decision, a senior party leader said.

Maliwal was appointed as Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women in 2015. As Chairperson of DCW, she played a crucial role in addressing serious issues such as acid attacks, sexual harassment, and women's safety.

Due to her efforts for the welfare of women and their rights, she has become a prominent figure working in the field of social activism in India, he added.
