9 dead, over 20 injured in Assam bus accident

Guwahati, Oct 26 (IBNS): At least nine people were killed and over 20 others were injured when a speeding bus overturned and fell into a roadside ditch at Nagaon in Assam on Sunday.
According to media reports, the accident occurred in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
 
The bus, which was travelling from Lakhimpur district to Guwahati, reportedly had 37 passengers.
 
The bus belonged to the Assam State Transport Corporation.
 
The accident happened when the speeding bus hit a culvert-a pipe-like structure that allows water to flow under a road or railway line. The driver reportedly lost control and the vehicle fell into the ditch.
