456 VCRs set up in country : Minister

New Delhi, Feb 25 (IBNS) Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has so far set up 456 Village Resource Centres (VRCs) to demonstrate the potential of satellite technology for development of rural areas

In a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Wednesday,  MoS in the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, PG & Pensions, Jitendra Singh said these  VRCs have been set up on a pilot scale, in association with selected NGOs, Trusts and State Government Departments.

Village Resource Centres have provided various space technology enabled services such as tele-healthcare, tele-education and natural resources information, he added.
